About Matt Kuter

After graduating from University in the late 90's I have played many roles in the IT industry:

  • software developer
  • test and release manager
  • project manager
  • enterprise and solutions architect

Most of these have been for large organisations. I am now applying all that I have learned to building solutions for small and medium sized businesses.

Why Kuter Solutions?

The last few years before I launched Kuter Solutions I was working as a software architect in a large organisation. A key part of this role was to oversee the selection and implementation of projects that provide new and improved IT solutions.

Many times these projects implement solutions provided by large multinational vendors. The cost of these systems is often completely staggering. Hundreds of thousands and even sometimes millions of dollars for licensing costs alone! Add on top of this the cost for system implementation, integration with existing systems, solution testing, and so on... You can start to imagine the number of zeroes that come after the $ sign!

Large organisations have an IT budget that allows them to implement software on this scale.  Don't get me wrong, they aren't throwing money away, business cases stack up and justify the expense otherwise they just won't be implemented.

But what about the small and medium sized organisations out there?  Some with a yearly IT budget that larger organisations can spend in a day?

Surely there has to be a better way?

With the proliferation of open source projects delivering high quality IT solutions across a wide range of functions I've always thought that there must be some way to leverage these solutions to build something cheaper, faster and better suited to the small and medium organisation.

The last few years I have spent more time than I care to admit thinking of this problem. I have decided to use this blog as a way to document the discoveries I have made, and those that I am yet to make, in coming up with a better solution.

Kuter Solution to the problem!

My goal

My goal is to make IT solutions more affordable for small and medium businesses. In doing so I want to be able to give them the advantages of using software that gives the big guys the advantages.

To head towards this goal I write about these solutions here. The articles will be business focused but sometimes I may get a bit technical. I am always happy to answer any questions or problems and encourage you to reach out and ask away!
